User Guide - Relationship to the Print Version
The planning and tracking computer program was designed to augment, not replace, the print version of the Responsive Teaching curriculum. The planning and tracking computer program includes most of the intervention tools that are described in the print version of this curriculum. This includes the Pivotal Behavior Wizard, Pivotal Behavior Profile, Planning and Tracking Form, Intervention Session Forms for parents and professionals, as well as all of the discussion points and Responsive Teaching strategies listed in the Curriculum Outline.
Although the planning and tracking computer program includes all of the tools that are needed to implement Responsive Teaching, it is missing several key pieces of information that are included in the print version that we have found to be critical for implementing this program. This includes descriptions of the rationale for parent-mediated intervention, Responsive Teaching strategies, and pivotal behavior intervention objectives. It also includes detailed, practical information about planning, implementing intervention sessions, and developing family action plans, which all contribute to the effectiveness of this intervention program.
